TEETH WHITENING
What are the side effects of teeth whitening?
While teeth whitening is considered safe, you may experience some side effects from treatments:
• Teeth sensitivity. Your teeth may become more sensitive following teeth whitening.
• Irritated gums. You may also experience gingival irritation.
What helps the pain after teeth whitening?
When you remove your bleaching trays simply rinse your mouth a few times.
If you know your teeth are sensitive prior to your first bleaching treatment, it is wise to use a desensitizing gel containing both 5% potassium nitrate and fluoride before for 10-30 minutes before inserting your bleaching trays.
COSMETI DENTISTRY
What does cosmetic dentistry include?
Cosmetic dentistry is generally used to refer to any dental work that improves the appearance (though not necessarily the functionality) of teeth, gums and/or bite. It primarily focuses on improvement in dental aesthetics in color, position, shape, size, alignment and overall smile appearance.
DENTURES
Types of dentures
1. traditional/conventional complete full dentures
2. acrylic partial dentures
3. chrome partial dentures
4. immediate dentures
5. implant supported dentures
6. flexi dentures
7. overdentures
8. upper dentures
IMPLANT
The basis for modern dental implants is a biologic process called osseointegration, in which materials such as titanium form an intimate bond to bone. The implant fixture is first placed so that it is likely to osseointegrate, then a dental prosthetic is added. A variable amount of healing time is required for osseointegration before either the dental prosthetic (a tooth, bridge or denture) is attached to the implant or an abutment is placed which will hold a dental prosthetic/crown.
Root Canal
How painful is a root canal?
Most people associate having a root canal with a lot of pain and discomfort. However, while most people can expect some discomfort during and after a root canal procedure, excessive pain is not normal. ... A root canal will treat the diseased tissue (pulp) while preserving the rest of the tooth.
How long does the pain last after a root canal?
A successful root canal can cause mild pain for a few days. This is temporary, and should go away on its own as long as you practice good oral hygiene. You should contact our rooms if the pain lasts for more than 7 days.
Dental Cleaning
It's important to visit the dentist or hygienist so that they can remove tartar between teeth which helps prevent a host of additional overall health problems. The presence of dental plaque may be linked to heart disease, arterial blockages, and stroke.
Do you really need teeth cleaning every 6 months?
We recommend a visit every six months for people in good oral health who take good care of their teeth and gums. For some, frequent visits may be necessary due to lack of oral maintenance or the need for restorative procedures.
FILLINGS/RESTORATIONS
What to expect after filling a cavity?
During a filling, the cavity is filled with a composite resin. While this is a simple, routine procedure, it leaves many people with sensitive teeth afterward. In most cases, tooth sensitivity goes away on its own within a few days, depending on the cause.
EXTRACTIONS
Aftercare for a tooth extraction
It's important to do what you can to keep the blood clot in place in the tooth socket. To avoid dislodging the blood clot, don't rinse, spit, or use a straw for 24 hours after the procedure.
Avoid smoking as this may lead to a dry socket.
